British outdoor brand RAB has launched its THE MOUNTAIN PEOPLE PODCAST, an entertaining, inspirational series about some of Rab’s most accomplished athletes, their love for adventure in the mountains and their lives beyond their sports. The podcast is hosted by UK elite alpinist and mountain guide Andy Cave and rolls out weekly.
The first episode features Julia Virat, one of a handful of French women to become a Chamonix High Mountain Guide. She shares how she broke through barriers into an elite and male dominated world, and about her adventures, on skis, in a yacht and on the world’s biggest rock walls. She relives the drama of getting lost on Yosemite’s 3000ft El Capitan. Solo. In the dark. And admits, that in this case, her mum had the best advice.
Season 1 episodes will feature:
- Nasim Eshqi, former Iranian kickboxing champion and elite rock climber
- Canadian climber Bronwyn Hodgins, who freeclimbed the iconic route Golden Gate at El Capitan earlier this year
- WOMENS’S TRAD FESTIVAL organisers Hetty Key and Charlie Low; professional climber Angus Kille (North Wales)
- Kev Shields, a Scotland-based all-round climber, well known for his solo climbing of routes up to E7 and M10+, all done with one hand and epilepsy.
Season 2 will then explore the history of Rab from the perspective of those who paved the way for the company being the brand it is today, 40 years after it was founded by Rab Carrington in a little attic in Sheffield.
The Podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts as well as Amazon Music, Podcast Addict, Deezer and Player FM.
