TRASH FREE TRAILS (TFT) takes motivation from the people that inspire them most – young people, recognising that young people are those with the largest stake in the protection of the places known and loved by all. TFT seeks to provide these children and youths with opportunities to connect, explore and play in the outdoors through its education programme – The TrashMob Academy.
This summer, TFT is encouraging educators to get students outdoors, pairing outdoor activities with nature and environmental action exercises to support young people, helping them to connect with the world around them in fun, active and inspiring ways.
The TrashMob Academy combines nature connection with outdoor activities and exercises in environmental stewardship. The aim being to improve wellbeing, self-esteem, and confidence in the participants through the power of building relationships with the natural world.
British outdoor clothing brand SPRAYWAY sponsors the education programme of Trash Free Trails, providing funds every year to support Trashmob Academy sessions across the country. Sprayway is the main partner of the Education and Understanding programme.
TFT states, “Programme Partner support allows us to build the cohesive and holistic approach we need to achieve our mission, rather than jumping from big project to big project. It also enables both us and our partners to learn and maximise the value of the support we receive.
‘Programme Partners support us on an annual basis by contributing to work that focuses specifically on one (or more) of our three programme strands/themes: Clean Trails; Purposeful Adventures; and Education and Understanding.
‘Take our Clean Trails programme as an example. This is 24/7/365 days a year work, which encourages individual action, but also specific group and organised events. We want to maximise the impact of each and every action: we value every minute of time volunteered to us. Programme partners help us achieve this.’
