For the first time ever, the award ceremony of the #sheisoutdoors initiative took the form of a hybrid event – online via livestream and on site. Organised by MANDEL MEDIA, there was product news as well as exclusive insights into brand strategy, plans for the next season and industry-relevant discussion panels. The Women’s Gear Award from #sheisoutdoors is special because it is the first award in which both women-specific and unisex outdoor products are tested and evaluated by a jury of experts with regard to the target group. It aims ‘to advance the representation and prioritization of women in the outdoor industry so that they too can find products optimally suited to their interests and needs.’
During the final jury meeting of the winter edition of #sheisoutdoors 2023 in Kochel am See, the highlights were selected after extensive research, tests under real conditions and discussions by leading female experts in the outdoor industry. The expert jury made a decision and selected an Overall Winner during the event.
The product submitted in the Outdoor Professionals & Expedition category – the Mythic G Jacket by Rab – impressed everyone. The current developments around PFAS and the adapted sustainability criteria, determined by the jury more than a year ago, for the Women’s Gear Award have made it challenging to submit products to the category.
What the jury said: The Women’s RAB MYTHIC G jacket has excited the jury. Extremely light and warm, it demonstrates a shift towards ecodesign. Trims are reduced to a minimum producing a garment that is effortlessly functional and feels like a cloud. The high-end pattern making provides a flattering silhouette for every female body shape. The jury honours the effort the RAB team has put in to producing a truly futureproof garment.
