British outdoor brand RAB has unveiled its new Veil Vests for mountain and trail running. Sitting in Rab’s popular SKYLINE collection, distilled from Rab’s most rugged mountain gear, the Veil Vests are designed for intrepid mountain runners, men and women, and offer outstanding comfort and performance.
The Veils’ lightweight construction using Mono Mesh fabric is worn rather than carried and offers multiple storage options. The Veil Vest is available in a 6-litre and a 2-litre version with three different size options each.
Following extensive research and testing, Rab chose MONO MESH for the chassis as it provides improved levels of comfort, superior moisture management and stabilisation compared to other fabric frameworks. It is 50% lighter and retains 70% less water than alternative spacer mesh constructions.
Engineered with a ripstop construction, the Mono Mesh will not stretch when placed on the vertical axis. However, by placing strategic pieces cut on the bias, stretch is created in areas that must contour with the body.
By panelling the Mono Mesh in this way, the Veil Vests provide a highly supportive and stable load carry, maximising comfort and delivering optimum fit.
The Veil 6 is perfect for long distances across rocky terrain, where on-the-go access to water, snacks and other essentials is crucial. Form-fitting, lightweight and highly breathable, it keeps moisture to a minimum. The fully adjustable sternum fit system ensures a close fit without adding unnecessary weight.
It offers plenty of hydration options with two 500ml soft flasks (included) incorporated into the front as well as a generous rear compartment which can hold a 2-litre water bladder alongside any essential layers.
Secure pockets with ultralight zip pulls will keep a key or card safe while further large stretch pockets provide easy access to snacks or gels. When not needed, poles can be quickly stowed away using the bungee pole holder. Finished with a 100% fluorocarbon-free DWR.
