JACK WOLFSKIN, a world-leading producer of outdoor performance apparel, equipment and footwear based in Germany, was named as the recipient of a prestigious ISPO AWARD last month. Globally, the ISPO Award is the gold standard in the outdoor industry for technical and sustainably conscious product design.
The award was determined by a jury of specialist editors with different fields of expertise and sports enthusiasts from the ISPO Collaborators Club. It’s designed to inspire further industry innovation and guide consumers in making informed product purchase decisions.
ISPO Award Jury: “Especially in extreme situations, every detail counts. With Eric Larsen, Jack Wolfskin has developed a well thought-out clothing set that offers new, innovative solutions in many areas and does not forget the issue of sustainability.”
The new EXPDN line, part of the Discovery collection, was created in collaboration with polar adventurer Eric Larsen. This EXPDN line has been thoughtfully engineered to serve the specific requirements of polar expeditions, prioritising exceptional moisture management in extremely cold environments.
The EXPDN 3L jacket and pants use waterproof, windproof and highly breathable PERTEX Shield Air laminate with an electrospinning membrane made from recycled nylon. Recycled materials are used in every product in the collection.
The jacket features easily accessible contrasting-colour zippers for visibility, extra-long armpits for best breathability and quick exit capability when wearing a harness. The mid-located pocket zippers offer easy access while wearing a harness, complemented by two inner pockets for extra storage. Adjustable hems on the arms and sewn-in Velcro keep the wearer dry, while the adjustable hood protects against wind and snow.
The pants come with adjustable back straps, a flexible waistband and extra-long two-way zippers for easy in-and-out access plus enhancing thermoregulation. Four individual pockets, including one at the front and three on the thighs, offer tool storage. A snow gaiter and Velcro on the legs prevent snow from getting in, knee pad pockets add to the set’s outstanding features such as OCTA lining in front of the thighs.
Amy Williams, Category Director – Outdoor Technical, said, “Winning this year’s ISPO Award is the highest recognition for commitment to innovation and sustainability. It’s a validation of our collaborative spirit, pushing performance in the outdoors, where every second counts.
“We’re thankful that the jury acknowledges the dedication we’ve poured into developing pioneering technologies and sustainable solutions. We’re inspired to push our product development to the next level. As a team, we’ll conquer new horizons, one discovery at a time.”
The EXPDN 3L Jkt & Pants and the entire Discovery collection will be available worldwide beginning Fall24.
