Maier Sports New Insulation Innovation For AW23 At Slide And OTS Winter

MAIER SPORTS will have its new Autumn Winter 2023 (AW23) range at the Slide/Outdoor Trade Show Winter at Telford International Centre from 10-12 January. Maier Sports offers high quality outdoor clothing for women, men and children with key focusses on fit, comfort, sustainability and at mid-range prices. With a signature range of sizes for optimised fit and comfort, the brand offers clothing for hiking, trekking, cross country skiing, ski touring and alpine skiing.

In order to make its outdoor clothing more sustainable, Maier Sports new Snow Mountain line is designed to be suitable for a range of winter activities from cross-country to ski touring and alpine skiing. The customer’s use of the garments can crossover between sports, making them more useable as customers can mix and match from the range to create a personalised winter outfit.

Maier Sports’ key new insulation innovation for AW23 is a range of trousers and jackets insulated with 100% natural Lavalan® wool. Lavalan wool is cosy, warm, breathable and highly sustainable as it is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. This sustainable source of insulation is produced 100% in Europe using 85% virgin European wool.

Lavalan cares deeply about the welfare of its animals from rearing the sheep to a comfortable shearing process. The use of native wool lowers the environmental impact as far fewer miles are travelled in the product creation process.

The new Lavalan wool items in the AW23 range include Nil Wool and Lulaka Wool which are insulated versions of the bestselling outdoor trousers for men and women. Nil Wool has been entered into the SLIDE Awards which will be judged by retailers, media and industry opinion-leaders.

Linda Kennedy Torstensson, Maier Sports Marketing UK & Ireland, said, “We’re excited about our Autumn Winter 23 collection which celebrates the wonderful diversity of outdoor and ski activities. We believe that there’s plenty of overlap between the different winter activities and consumers don’t tend to think in terms of rigid product categories, either, so we have developed our SNOW MOUNTAIN range with this in mind. In addition we are proud that our new hiking and trekking clothing will have a stronger emphasis on sustainability and recycling.”

Maier Sports was founded in 1938 close to the Swabian Alp area of Germany but it wasn’t until 1970 that the company (which up until then was a fabric making business) started to manufacture clothing for skiing and tennis. Since 2015, the Maier Sports GmbH, with its brands GONSO and Maier Sports, belongs to the Schwan-STABILO group. In its outdoor segment, the brand portfolio also includes Ortovox and Deuter.
