Helinox boosts its sustainability commitment and repair capability

Leading lightweight outdoor furniture brand HELINOX has announced that from 2023, it will move over 90% of its fabrics in furniture seats, cases and accessories to recycled polyester. The Helinox commitment to better materials also extends to the chemistry of the water-repellent coating that it uses, which is C0 and PFC free.

Helinox has an exclusive partnership with Dongah Aluminium Corporation (DAC) to produce the brand’s aluminium frames. This relationship has kept Helinox at the forefront of hardgoods sustainability initiatives. DAC’s unique ‘Green Anodization’ process removes the need for harmful chemicals and the subsequent wastewater needed to dispose of the chemicals post-treatment.

This latest development is part of Helinox’s wider SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME. The company firmly believes in using quality, durable materials on products that are also designed to be repaired with ease. That is why Helinox has a category-leading five-year warranty promise on all products and, from 2023, will make substantial upgrades to its repair centre capabilities.

Andrew Shand, CEO Helinox Europe, said, “Our products are extremely strong, but if a customer does accidentally bend a leg pole on their chair, replacing the whole frame is wasteful. The old frame could quickly end up in landfill and this type of obsolescence is the last thing we want. Having repair guides and replacement parts on hand for our best-selling frames means that we can keep Helinox chairs going for even longer, which is better for our customers and better for the environment.”
