The Robens Settler Field is winner of the Best Glamping Tent category in Camping Magazine’s Camping Awards 2024 with the Robens Serac range winning the Best Lightweight Sleeping Bag category.
Building on its popular Klondike bell tent, the ROBENS Settler Field, sleeping six campers is ‘inspired by those pioneers who laid down roots to build a new life in the American West’, designed as ‘a base from which to soak in huge vistas and big skies, to appreciate the surrounding nature from the comfort of your country homestead.’
Huge front tinted windows and large mesh side panels create a panoramic effect, boosted by the extra wide A-frame door design, with three vertical zips, that offers versatile access and ventilation options.
The HydroTex Polycotton material combines tough easy-care synthetic fibres with cotton’s high water resistance while allowing water vapour to escape. The resulting microclimate minimises condensation and stabilises temperature extremes.
Polycotton’s insulation and breathability, coupled with large vents, including the apex vent that can be neatly controlled from inside the tent, are ideal for warmer climates but will easily meet more challenging conditions.
The use of aluminium alloy for centre poles and porch A-frame offers a great strength to weight ratio from a stable, light support that makes for easier pitching and transportation whilst in-house wind and rain testing ensure correctly pitched tents will deal with in-the-field conditions met throughout the year.
Heavier than synthetic fabrics, the polycotton is far quieter in windy conditions and reduces external noise. The large porch adds versatility to the living space that features excellent ventilation, enhanced by the apex vent that can be controlled from inside the tent.
The addition of a stove pipe port and a zip-flap groundsheet allow the use of an optional Robens wood burning tent stove; other options include carpet, footprint, darkened and insect-proof mesh inner tents, hanging organiser pockets and a selection of tarps to add outdoor shelter.
The latest Serac sleeping bag range is updated to carry the Robens Sustain logo that shows the use of recycled inner and shell fabrics plus the use of responsibly sourced, traceable duck down.
A key feature is the elasticated Loft Expander System. This reacts to body movement by pulling the shell from the lining to quickly restore loft and insulation to the torso, minimising the inner space to be heated without compromising comfort.
Options include three different fill weights in the box wall construction for a choice of temperature ratings with the fill weight and Tlimit for men now shown in the model name for easy identification: Serac 300 -4°C, Serac 600 -14°C, Serac 900 -20°C.
The wide comfort mummy cut with shark fin foot box allows freedom of movement while the PFC-free lining offers high moisture transfer. Draughts and heat loss are minimised by the insulated face baffle and a redefined neck baffle position and profile − all drawcords are differentiated by thickness and structure for easy adjustment by touch.
Left- or right-hand YKK two-way zip options with auto-lock are available with anti-snag zip guards and full-length insulated zip baffles. All come with a compression stuff sack, hanging loops and mesh sack for storage without compromising loft.
