BERGHAUS has unveiled a new campaign to promote one of the first services that the brand offered. Since it was founded 56 years ago, the company has engineered durable, long-lasting kit and offered to repair products for free, if ever needed.
Now, through ‘Repairhaus’, Berghaus aims to reach more consumers with details about the service, how to access it, and to highlight its role in the brand’s wider positive business programme.
Led by a dedicated team at the brand’s headquarters in North-East England, the Repairhaus service pledges to try and repair any damaged Berghaus clothing, footwear, pack or accessory product that is returned, regardless of how old, worn or weathered. Repairhaus now has a DEDICATED SECTION on the Berghaus website which will be promoted through a sustained digital communications campaign.
Using a form submitted through the website, the experienced Repairhaus team makes an initial assessment of every product and provides advice on whether they think that a repair is feasible. Although consumers are asked to pay the cost of sending the product to the company, every repair that Berghaus makes is free.
If kit has come to the end of its useful life, consumers are given two options. For products that are still covered by guarantee, a like-for-like replacement will be offered. Berghaus offers to upcycle everything else and give consumers a 30% discount off a new product.
Berghaus brand director Charlie Pym said, “We’ve always offered the repair service and our in-house team has a treasure trove of stories about how they’ve helped keep much loved Berghaus kit out there in action, whether a zip finally broke after 30 years of sustained use or a pocket has needed a patch up after a decade of heavy outings.
“Repairhaus is a fundamental pillar of our positive business programme, extending the life of products for as long as possible, so that they don’t need to be replaced, and reducing the potential for them ending up in landfill sites.”
Renowned ultra-runner Sabrina Verjee was grateful that the Berghaus repair service existed when a much-used favourite product was damaged. She said, “My favourite jacket is the Berghaus HyperTherm and it has served me well for so many races.
“I used it so much that I wore multiple little holes in the body of the jacket and bits of stuffing started to fall out. I contacted Berghaus to see if anything could be done. To my great surprise I was told of the free repair service. I didn’t hesitate to package up my little jacket and I was delighted to receive it back less than two weeks later, all mended and as good as new!”
