Petzl Sales Representative - Middle England & Wales

Lyon Equipment Limited (Lyon) is an employee owned company serving the Outdoor, Work at Height and RescueMarkets with ‘equipment and expertise to venture further’. 

The Petzl UK Agency is a team within Lyon, dedicated to servicing Petzl in the UK & Ireland. The key responsibilities of the Agency include; sales representation, marketing, sales administration, technical support and after sales, for both the sport and professional (industrial) markets. 

Petzl are at the forefront in the design, manufacture and supply of market leading work at height, climbing and headtorch products based in Crolles, France. 

We are seeking to appoint a Petzl Middle England and Wales Sales Representative responsible for selling Petzl products into both the professional work at height and outdoor markets. The territory to be covered is outlined within the application pack on our website. 

The successful candidate will be home based in the Midlands and will mainly service the Midlands and Wales. Travel outside this area will be needed from time to time and regular visits to our head office at Tebay will be necessary. 

Reporting to the Petzl UK Country Manager, the job will involve:

  • Servicing and developing existing business
  • Meeting and exceeding sales objectives
  • Keeping up to date with current product, technical specification and usage of both our ranges and those of our competitors
  • National / International trade show attendance and local day and/or evening events when required
  • Regular sales and customer performance reporting
  • Participation at Petzl sales meetings, at Lyon head office, Petzl France or other countries
  • Organisation of personal workload to ensure minimum working outside normal hours
  • A considerable amount of self-managed travelling, predominantly driving
  • Overnight stays whilst on the road
  • Assisting the Petzl agency team when required with; marketing, order processing, returns and providing technical information for customer enquiries 

The person we seek will ideally meet the following essential criteria:

  • Have a genuine passion for the vertical world
  • Have proven sales experience
  • Be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Reside within the sales territory
  • Have an active understanding of market trends – both outdoor and professional work at height and rescue
  • Social media, though not a key element of the role, is a useful skill to have as and where needed
  • Be organised, articulate and have a good level of literacy and numeracy
  •  Enjoy learning and development
  • Be versatile and happy to help with other agency functions as necessary
  • Hold a current full car driving licence (preferably clean) and a current passport 

Hours of work:

This is a full time position which on average equates to a 37.5 per week. We expect the majority of work to be carried out between normal working hours (9-5) Monday to Friday, however, given the nature of the role,flexibility and some weekend working will be required. 

The successful candidate will be provided with the following:

  • Samples (to be well maintained and accounted for)
  • All necessary and reasonable stationery and consumables
  • Training as and when necessary

  • Commencing salary likely to be in the region of £26,000 - £30,000
